How often should you train?
Pavel Tsatsouline nailed it years ago with the following advice: “Train as often as possible, while staying as fresh as possible.” Simple, yet brilliant.
There’s a common misconception that every workout needs to leave you completely drained. While you might get away with that approach in your younger years, it’s not a sustainable strategy as you age. Recovery becomes just as important as the workout itself.
What Pavel really emphasizes is this: the faster you recover, the sooner you can train again. That’s why I keep my sessions short and, yes, sometimes intense. The key is balance. By not overtaxing my body, I’m able to train daily without issues. Shorter sessions mean quicker recovery—and more consistency in the long run.
The takeaway? You don’t need to destroy yourself to see results. Train smart, recover well, and watch your progress soar.
